In short: Four strangers' paths converge in Leilon, they join the Bottom Feeders, and a tavern celebration erupts into black-eyed carnage.
Summary
The adventure opened mid-crisis: a terrifying Leviathan storm battering The Tempest's Temptation (introduced as The Temptation's Tempest). Wild Fury, Lord Icarus Valerius Corvus III, Blackjack, and Rik fought desperately and saved the ship under the watchful eye of Captain Siren Shellsword.
The story then rewound to their origins. Wild Fury met Halia, who told him of "the tethered" — people falling ill since the was reactivated — and gave him a prototype Sending Phone plus a lead on his missing father, last seen near the Ice Spires. He had spent days secluded with his wyvern Dave, increasingly isolated and manic. Icarus, riding in the opulent "Aurora Sovereign" with his butler Gearsley, was on a "rehabilitation" mission and received a restricted Sending Phone from his father amid tense conversations about family expectations. Blackjack faked being struck by Gearsley's car as a distraction and stole the Glimmerspark phone. Rik learned of a potential cure for his ailing wife Marisya in the desert of Anauroch, a lead given by Riptide.
Their paths converged at tavern, where Captain Siren Shellsword recruited them into his Bottom Feeders crew. The celebration was violently interrupted when pirates in the tavern transformed — eyes turning black — and attacked indiscriminately. Gearsley proved surprisingly adept in the fight. Icarus died, experienced a bewildering vision in a black void, and was miraculously revived by Gearsley.
